It Has Begun

By

It is about time we saw some action from the Marlins this season.  Too bad that action was not on the field.  Yesterday, the Marlins, who spent a small fortune during the off-season in order to be contenders this year, sent Omar Infante and Anibal Sanchez to the Detroit Tigers for, well, let’s face it, Jacob Turner.

Oh yeah, as Dave mentioned here, this trade was historically significant because it marks the first time teams have traded their compensation picks.  According to Peter Gammons, The Marlins obtain prospects Rob Brantly and Brian Flynn along with Turner.  The Tigers will also now have the last pick in compensation round A (after the first round), while the Marlins will have the final pick in compensation round B (after the second round).

So it has begun, the mass exodus from Miami, the Marlins are sellers this year.  Who will go next?  Will it be whiny crybaby Hanley Ramirez?(HOPEFULLY!)  Is it just me, or is everyone else tired of Hanley’s crap?  Punching a fan, honestly, WHO DOES THAT?  Unless the fan was REALLY heckling you.  And it wasn’t even a human fan, it was the kind that blows air.  Anyway, a fan’s entire purpose is blow air to cool people off.  Perhaps Hanley was channeling his inner Carlos Zambrano with his water cooler fetish and Hanley felt the need to one-up him? Who knows?  All I know is that I’m tired of Hanley’s crap and I want him to be someone else’s problem.

AND BRING BACK Cody Ross!!!!!!

Also, we now need a second baseman.

At least Josh Johnson pitched well last night.  Even if he did suffer a cut to his hand going six innings and striking out nine and promptly beating my most hated Atlanta Braves 2-1.  Johnson turned in probably his best start this whole year.  I just hope it wasn’t just a show he put on in front of all of the scouts that were there to see him.  Johnson is now currently listed as day-to-day but probably will not miss his next start.

Till next time kids…..

Go Marlins!!!!
