Marlins inquired on Nolan Reimold

By

The Miami Marlins have been doing some late Spring Training shopping. Tuesday, the Marlins contacted the Baltimore Orioles about outfielder Noaln Reimold, according to ESPN.com’s Jerry Crasnick. The Orioles were not interested being that Reimold is projected to be the leadoff hitter for the Orioles this season as well as their left fielder.

The Marlins already have their outfield set with Giancarlo Stanton, Logan Morrison and Emilio Bonifacio. The Marlins also have Austin Kearns, Greg Dobbs and Bryan Petersen on their bench.

Reimold batted .247/.328/.453 in only 87 games for the Orioles in 2011.

Reimold was not the only person the Marlins were looking to acquire before the season started. The New York Yankees were set to offer Freddy Garcia to Miami but with the Marlins’ rotation set with Josh Johnson, Mark Buehrle, Anibal Sanchez, Ricky Nolasco and Carlos Zambrano, there really is not a need for the Marlins to acquire another pitcher. Miami also has Wade LeBlanc as a possible starter as well.

The Marlins look pretty set going into the 2012 season. They start their season against the defending champion St. Louis Cardinals at their brand new ballpark on April 4th.
