Marlins Emerging As Favorites to Land Yoenis Cespedes

With Yoenis Cespedes becoming a hot commodity towards the end of the offseason, the Miami Marlins look to have the edge in signing the Cuban defect.

According to Juan C. Rodriguez of the South Florida Sun-Sentinel, the Marlins are likely to sign the outfielder. This is coming after the Marlins were aggressively negotiating with Cespedes.

The Detroit Tigers, Chicago White Sox, Chicago Cubs and Baltimore Orioles are still in pursuit of Cespedes but he cannot sign a contract until the Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) unlocks him.

It is looking more and more likely that another big fish will come to swim with the Marlins, making them an even better contender for the World Series this year.
