Anibal Sanchez Wins Arbitration
ByMiami Marlins RHP Anibal Sanchez became the first person to win salary arbitration this year when a three-person panel awarded him $8 million as opposed to the Marlins’ offer of $6.2 million.
Sanchez is eligible for free agency after the season. In 2011, he was 8-9 with a 3.67 ERA in 32 starts. Sanchez also pitched three complete games for the Marlins as well as striking out 202 batters.
Before this win, Washington’s John Lannan and Tampa Bay’s Jeff Niemann lost their bids to win salary arbitration. However, 17 players are still waiting for their hearings.
